Drop in for a drink on your way

If you’re planning a boat trip from Paper Mill Lock, The Rodney is just half a mile away – a popular place to drop in for a drink before setting off, or after the trip is over. The relaxed ambience of The Rodney is a perfect complement to the leisurely pace of a river trip.

The Rodney also features on the Essex County Council guide to local walks and Little Baddow has its own Millennium Walk (details can be obtained from the Parish Council).

“We’re in various Ramblers books, too – as a starting point, a finishing point or a stop off along the way,” says landlady, Lynne. “The ramblers are great, they’re happy to move around to accommodate the locals and enjoy a drink and a snack.”

Also nearby are three caravan sites – and caravan enthusiasts love the rustic old-fashioned charm of The Rodney. It becomes their ‘local’ whilst they’re in the area and can often be found roosting in the beer garden during the summer months.

The Rodney is a real traditional local – but with a welcome for visitors too – find out more by calling 01245 222385.
