Mine’s a pint!

There’s a cosy bar and plenty of room to sit round a table ‘chewing the fat’ admiring the collection of beer pump labels. This impressive collection demonstrates the huge range of beers that have been available in The Rodney over the years, and now decorate the ceiling beams.

That’s not the only collection; “Someone gave us a low denomination note and now we have another collection”, comments landlady, Lynne Smeeton “and the regulars have been putting up the tickets to events they’ve been to in the pool room too.”

The main bar is a traditional bar with the original tiny bar opening into an area with tables where you can sit with friends and chat – or play dominoes, cards or crib.

There’s also a pool room with a dart board and the addition of modern entertainment in the form of a big screen for those matches where you watching with friends makes all the difference. There’s also a fruit machine and quiz machine if you fancy testing your skills.

The Rodney keeps old fashioned pub hours too – they’re open from 12noon until 2:30pm and 6-11pm Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday’s 12 noon until 8pm – with a licence for special occasions until 1am.

With today’s drink driving laws it’s always a challenge to have a night out without having to get a taxi home – and Peter and Lynne are happy to serve you coffee and tea, if you’re in charge of a vehicle and don’t want to risk an accident or losing your licence.

Come and enjoy a more relaxed drink in a slower-paced environment and leave the rush and bustle of the outside world behind for an hour or two.
